1030 Did the COVID-19 Pandemic Impact on Medical Students Knowledge of Plastic Surgery Emergencies?

Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to look at the teaching and knowledge plastic surgery emergencies referral criteria in medical students from 3rd 5th year. Method 400 were sent a survey via email invited participate 278 replied (69.7%). Students asked 20 questions including demographics, if they interested surgery/ED, had B+P what type, there clinical exposure, how classify TBSA factors deciding considered classifying burn, confident treat when make burn mechanisms, common complications burns, is flap types assess, surgeon does. Results 58% (161) declared an interest or ED, 32% (88) with 63% (252) attending lecture 5% (13) formal Placement, others adhoc 21% (59) exposure. 74% (205) identified depth as important, 42% (117) TBSA. could not TBSA, 97% (271) did feel treating + only 8% (32) knowing refer although most identify mechanisms. 92% (368) knew infection complication but 1 why smoking contraindicated. student non able assess. few do. Conclusions There lack consistent undergraduate education on knowledge, perhaps resulting less experience cancelled placement.
